The man who inspired the movie ‘The Terminal’ has died at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.
The Iranian – Mehran Karimi Nasseri – better known to airport staff as Alfred Mehran or Sir Alfred, died of natural causes in terminal two.
He lived at the airport for 34 years after he was refused entry to England because he had no documents.
France also denied him entry in 1988 when he decided to set up on a plastic bench in the airport mall.
Tom Hanks played ‘Sir Alfred’ in the award-winning film in 2004 after the refugee’s story caught the attention of Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.
