The Block 2022: Inside the battle to sell the last house built by Dylan and Jenny

Jenny Heath and Dylan Adams started the 2022 season of The Block with the unique advantage of being the show’s first traditional couple, but ended up in limbo.

The couple have the unfortunate distinction of being the only contestants on this year’s season who didn’t sell the house they worked so hard to build.

In the show’s most controversial finale yet, winning couple Omar and Oz took home a record $1.68 million while two couples failed to sell their homes.

Despite sharing the dubious honor with Jenny and Dylan, housemates Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra managed to unload their house on Friday in a shock development that propelled them into second place.

The couple sold their home to the controversial “Lambo Guy” who made it to the finals in a yellow Lamborghini and drove up the price of Omar and Oz’s house in a bidding war with serial Block buyer Danny Wallis.

He bought Sharon and Ankur’s house for $4.25 million, leaving the Block couple with a profit of $170,000.

However, Jenny and Dylan have yet to find their winning bidder for the five-bedroom, three-bathroom home they built over 12 weeks.

The couple admitted it wasn’t the “outcome (they) hoped for” in a heartfelt Instagram post, but were determined to stay positive.

“Our beautiful Block home is still on the market, fingers crossed it breaks soon,” they wrote earlier this week.

On the domain’s website, the 5.3-acre property is billed as “charming” and “scenic” with the largest acreage and terrace this season on The Block.

“Created and crafted without compromise, the expansive dimensions of this unparalleled family residence seamlessly combine sustainable and innovative design, luxurious finishes and entertaining grandeur,” reads the listing.

The home boasts luxury features such as a self-contained granny flat, wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired hot tub and heated pool.

The Gisborne home is also completely off-grid with a seven-star energy rating.

Based on the suburb’s median sales price, the Domain’s website estimates the home would sell for $1.63 million.

While it’s an automated estimate, the figure is well below the $4.08 million set for all couples on The Block and would relegate Jenny and Dylan to last place.

However, the agent’s suggested retail price for the home is between $4.08 million and $4.4 million.

Despite the setbacks, the couple took to social media to praise the team at TCC Real Estate responsible for selling the 5.3 hectare home in Gisborne, Victoria.

“We want to thank our amazing team,” Jenny and Dylan wrote in an Instagram post.

They said the real estate agents were like a “second family” and thanked them for going “above and beyond” with the house.

“Our Block house is still on the market, we have no doubt it will sell very soon,” the Block couple said.

His house is the last house on Block that is not yet sold, and the only one built by traditionalists with practical experience.
